FounderUnstuck

PADEMIQ product

FounderUnstuck is a founder diagnostic and expert-matching platform designed to help founders identify what is actually blocking their progress, and connect them with the right kind of expert to help solve it.

01

The problem

Founders often know something is not working, but they do not always know what the real bottleneck is. They may think they need more marketing, a technical cofounder, more features or funding, but those are possible solutions, not necessarily the real constraint.

02

Why we did it

We wanted to test whether structured product thinking could help founders diagnose the constraint before spending more time or money on the wrong solution, and then connect them with the kind of expertise that actually matches that constraint.

03

Our approach

We designed the experience around diagnosis first. Instead of prescribing an answer immediately, the product asks focused questions across product clarity, customer demand, positioning, execution, technical capability, founder capacity, growth and decision-making, then uses that diagnosis to guide the founder toward the most relevant type of support.

04

The solution

FounderUnstuck is a founder diagnostic and expert-matching platform. A structured assessment identifies the founder's likely bottleneck, then guides them toward the right kind of expert: a builder, a domain expert, a growth specialist, a product specialist, a marketing expert or another experienced operator. The matching starts from the diagnosed problem rather than from browsing a directory of consultants.

05

How we went about it

We built and iterated the assessment, shortened the flow to reduce friction, categorised founder bottlenecks, mapped those categories to expert types, and refined positioning using real search behaviour and the terms founders actually used to describe the problem.

06

The decisions that mattered

  • Diagnosis came before recommendation: the product identifies the bottleneck first, rather than immediately prescribing a fix such as more marketing or a technical cofounder.
  • The assessment was shortened after reviewing where users lost momentum in the flow, trading some depth for completion.
  • Founder bottlenecks were categorised into distinct types, rather than left as an unstructured list of possible problems.
  • Those bottleneck categories were mapped directly to expert types, so a diagnosis led somewhere specific rather than a general referral.
  • The expert side was designed around builders, domain experts and growth specialists rather than a single generic “consultant” category.
  • Positioning was refined using real search behaviour and the terms founders actually used to describe the problem, rather than internal assumptions about the right language.
  • The product was designed to create a path from insight to practical human support, rather than stopping at the diagnosis itself.
07

Outcome

A working founder diagnostic and matching experience, with clearer positioning around founder bottlenecks, a shorter assessment flow, defined expert categories mapped to those bottlenecks, and useful search-demand signals around the underlying problem.

08

What we learned

A diagnosis is only useful if it leads somewhere. Founders responded less to being told what was wrong and more to seeing a specific, relevant next step, whether that was a builder, a domain expert or a growth specialist, connected directly to their result.
